Als Jugendlicher begann Ramin mit Tae-Kwon-Do, trotz einer Niederlage im ersten Kampf war sein Talent nicht zu übersehen. Er gewann in Folge viele nationale und internationale Titel im Tae-Kwon-Do.
Im Jahre 1992 wechselte Ramin dann zum Kickboxen - hier errang er als Amateur viele nationale und internationale Titel. Er ist einer der wenigen Sportler, die gleichzeitig Titel im Semikontakt, Leichtkontakt und Vollkontakt errangen.
Von 1994 - 1999 war der Boxer im Nationalteam der WAKO.
Seine Profikarriere begann er allerdings bei der WKA, dem größten und ältesten Weltverband. Froh über den Verbandswechsel kämpfte Ramin das erste Mal als Profi im Vorkampf beim Europameisterschaftskampf Orhan Celik vs. Austin Caverley.
Nach zahlreichen Siegen bekam der Kickboxer im Jahre 2002 die Chance auf einen WM-Kampf gegen den Briten Austin Caverley, den Ramin in der 12. Runde durch K.O. gewinnen konnte.
Nach 11 erfolgreichen Titelverteidigungen musste der Sportler bedingt durch eine Rückenverletzung und anschließender OP 2011 sein Karriere als Kämpfer auf Eis legen, aktuell ist er als Coach bei "The Biggest Loser" zu sehen.
